The American Mennonite Mission in India was formed shortly after the Mennonite Evangelizing and Benevelent Board began foreign mission work in 1899.  Affiliated with the (old) Mennonite Church, the American Mennonite Mission functioned primarily in Dhamtari, India, and engaged in famine relief, care for lepers and orphans, the building of a hopsital, education, and evangelism.  In 1952, the American Mennonite Mission merged with the India Mennonite Church to form the Mennonite Church in India.
