Biographical Note for Weldy, Silas L. (1877-1955) :

Silas L. Weldy was born in 1877 near Wakarusa, Indiana to John K. and Susan (Mumaw) Weldy.  He accepted Christ at the age of 18 and joined the Holdeman Mennonite Church in Wakarusa, Indiana. In1899, he married Elnora Metzler.

On Dec. 20, 1908, he was ordained to the ministry by the late David Burkholder. Weldy served Holdeman Mennonite Church as a minister and Sunday school superintendent for many years, retiring from the active ministry in 1949.  Weldy was particularly interested in mission work and evangelism.  Active in the Indiana - Michigan Conference, Weldy served as secretary and also field evangelist for the District Mission Board.

Weldy died in 1955.
