Abstract

The Roy C. Bucher Papers consist primarily of sermon notes, photos, and congregational materials from the many churches Roy served during his career. Notes from hundreds of sermons are arranged by topic or theme.

The Roy C. Bucher Papers are divided into the folowing series:

Collection Historical Note

Roy C. Bucher was born February 15, 1920 in Ephrata, Pennsylvania. During World War II, he served with Civilian Public Service in Sideling Hill, PA, and Delaware State Hospital at Farnhurst. On June 9, 1945, Roy married Betty Jane Ruppert. Their three children are Judy, Darrel, and Carlene. Roy studied religious education and theology at Goshen College and earned a Masters in Theology from Winona Lake - Summer School of Theology. He continued his education at Princeton Theological Seminary. Roy worked as a chaplain and pastor for more than 50 years, serving in locations across the east coast and midwest. Roy loved jokes and incorporated humor into his sermons and theology. He died on March 10, 2006.

Separated Materials: Materials bearing no notation by Roy C. Bucher or any materials created after his death and unrelated to him as an individual were discarded.

Processing Information: Sermon notes were not recieved with any discernable filing system. Notes with common titles or themes were compiled together under different topics or themes. (i.e. holy days, scripture passages, service types, etc.). As a result, sermons given at different congregations are sometimes grouped together within the same folder. Slides were removed from carousels and placed in sleeves maintaining  their original order.
