Name: Greenwalt, Leon (1913-1993)

Historical Note: Greenwalt attended Goshen High School, Goshen College (1936-37) and Oberlin College where he studied liberal arts, Purdue University normal training (1935-36) and Ball State Teacher's College normal training. He taught biology and mathematics to freshman at Goshen High School. Greenwalt declared himself a conscientious objector in 1940. He spent four years in Civilian Public Service (CPS), working at the following camps: No. 22 (Henry, Illinois), No. 67 (Downey, Idaho) and No. 34 (Bowie, Maryland). He married Naomi (Fogelsonger) Greenwalt on June 7, 1958. Together they had two children, Janet and Allan.
